After running many events and helping many of clients fill theirs, I've discovered something that will save you from burning through your ad budget:
Only TWO types of people buy event tickets from ads:
People who already know you - They see your ad and think "Finally! They're doing an event!"
People with a HYPER-SPECIFIC problem you solve - Not just "interested in marketing" but "I need YouTube Ads to scale my business NOW"
The biggest mistake I see? Broad targeting to anyone "interested in entrepreneurship" or "marketing."
That's like throwing hundred dollar bills into a bonfire! 🔥💸

The $100,000 Formula 1 Mistake (Don't Let This Happen to You!)
Okay, I promised to share this embarrassing story...
We'd already run two successful events - 100+ attendees each, smooth as butter. So we got cocky and booked our third event without thoroughly checking the calendar.
Everything seemed fine until ticket buyers started backing out. Then we got THE email:
"Hey Aleric, I'm excited about the event but all the hotels in Austin are $800+ per night. What's going on?"
My stomach dropped. 🤦♂️
Turns out, we'd scheduled our event right before Formula 1 weekend - when 500,000 people descend on Austin and hotel prices go 3-5X normal rates!
The damage:
Lost ticket sales from people who couldn't afford hotels
Refunds to upset customers
Emergency pivots to fill seats
Ended up with 80 people instead of our target 150
The lesson: Don't just check your event dates - check EVERYTHING happening within a week of your event in that city!
