The Collaboration Strategy for Explosive Growth

When I asked Austin about his biggest marketing strategy or takeaway, his answer was simple yet powerful: Collaborations.

"Collaborations, as simple as that sounds, right now in particular is a really golden opportunity," Austin explained. He's leveraging features like Instagram's collaboration option which allows you to add up to 5 collaborators on your posts and reels—automatically distributing your content to all of their audiences!

The same capability exists on Facebook profiles with one collaborator, creating a fantastic opportunity for multiplying your reach.

His approach isn't about competing with other creators in your niche—it's about growing together:

"I am connected with dozens of similar creators in my niche that also have hundreds of thousands to millions of followers, and we grow together. We collaborate with one another, we support each other's content, we share each other's content, we lift each other up."

The lesson? Find people in your niche—you're better together. It's not you versus them. You can lift each other up and grow exponentially through strategic collaborations.

The Viral Short-Form Video Framework

Austin has mastered the art of creating short-form content that captures attention and drives action. His framework is remarkably effective:

1. Start with a Strong Hook (3 Seconds Max)

You need to interrupt the mindless doom scrolling with something that demands attention. This could be a bold statement, surprising statistic, or thought-provoking question.

2. Build Intrigue (Next 6-7 Seconds)

Hold their attention and start building tension or interest. This is where you lock them into the story.

3. Deliver Valuable Content

Provide clear, actionable information that delivers on the promise of your hook.

4. End with a Strong Call to Action

Tell viewers exactly what to do next.

For those who are more comfortable with long-form content and struggle to condense ideas, Austin recommends two approaches:

Interview Style: Have someone ask you a question on camera that serves as the opening hook. Example: "Hey Jim, what are three signs you're dating a covert narcissist?" This question acts as the hook, and you immediately respond with empathy, tension, and then your three tips.

Solo Style: If recording alone, start with a strong hook, express empathy for the problem, deliver your tips in one-liners, and end with a clear call to action.

Platform-Specific Strategies That Work RIGHT NOW

Austin shared incredibly detailed insights about what's working on each platform. Here's the breakdown:

Facebook: The Sleeping Giant

Facebook is experiencing a renaissance for organic reach. In fact, Austin generated 83 MILLION VIEWS on Facebook in one month alone and gained 100,000 followers!

His top-performing content type? Text threads with a clickbait headline followed by a call to action to check the comments. For example:

"Rest in peace ChatGPT, this new AI tool just blows it out of the water 👇"

In the comments, he shares the actual information and links. This format works because Facebook typically suppresses posts with external links in the main content.

SECRET FACEBOOK HACK: There's a setting called "auto invite" that automatically invites people who engage with your content to join your Facebook group. Austin used this to grow his group by 18,000 members on autopilot! Look for this in your settings if you have a professional mode profile.

Facebook Reels are his second most effective content type, but he emphasizes manually posting them through Facebook directly rather than cross-posting from Instagram.

Instagram: Leveraging Trial Reels

Instagram is Austin's second-best platform right now. His biggest hack? Trial Reels.

This relatively new feature allows you to:

  1. Look at your past top-performing posts

  2. Download them

  3. Repost as a Trial Reel

The benefit? Trial Reels go to a completely new audience first, rather than your existing followers. Austin posts about two Trial Reels daily, generating millions of views and thousands of new followers.

And don't forget to share your Reels to your Stories—Story views count as Reel views, giving you a free boost!

YouTube & TikTok: Consistent Short-Form Content

While YouTube Shorts and TikTok videos aren't as explosive as they were two years ago, they still perform well with daily posting. Austin keeps his content under 60 seconds, even though platforms now allow longer formats.

YouTube Hack: Community posts are sharable and can drive subscriber growth without even posting videos. Austin has gained over 1,000 subscribers just from his community tab!

The Ultimate Psychological Triggers for Viral Content

Now for the "secret sauce" that Austin uses to dramatically boost engagement (which feeds the algorithm):

1. Plant Easter Eggs in Your Content

Austin strategically places subtle, unusual elements in his videos that viewers can't help but comment on. For example, when showing a website URL, he'll have a folder visible that says something provocative like "Mr Beast nud..." which appears to link to OnlyFans.

This causes people to rush to the comments to point it out, driving up engagement, watch time, and repeat views. As he explains:

"My video is still playing in the background racking up view duration and retention and repeat views. It causes comment strings... I am trolling the trolls to lift up the engagement and the view duration on my videos, which has helped me get billions of views."

2. Make Black & White Statements

Austin occasionally makes bold, borderline controversial statements that resonate with his target audience while potentially alienating others:

"YouTube is free, Google is free, ChatGPT is free, Coursera has free courses... WiFi is free. You have no excuses to not learn a skill online."

This approach generates significant engagement from both supporters and detractors—all of which signals to the algorithm that your content is worth promoting.

As Austin puts it: "It is easier to fool people than to convince them that they've been fooled." The contrarians and trolls end up helping your content reach more of your actual target audience.

This reminds me of one of our best-performing YouTube ad hooks ever: "YouTube Ads beat Facebook Ads every time." While there's nuance to this statement, the bold claim captures attention and starts the conversation.

Consistency is the Ultimate Growth Hack

If there's one overarching theme from my conversation with Austin, it's that consistency over time is what truly drives results. As he explained:

"I'm not special. I just have probably been more consistent and taken more swings than most people."

Austin posts 10+ pieces of content daily on Facebook alone, with 1-2 short-form videos that get repurposed across all platforms. While that volume might not be realistic for everyone, he recommends a minimum of one post per day to stay top of mind in today's competitive landscape.

His advice for dealing with algorithm fluctuations? Recognize there are "seasons of growth and seasons of learning." When things are working, double down. When they're not, experiment and try new approaches.

Don't get discouraged by temporary dips. As Austin said:

"I'll have giant spikes and then there will be a month where I'll lose 10,000 followers and then there'll be months like right now where I'm gaining 100,000 followers a month. Zoom out, look at the bigger picture."
