I Turned Down 100+ Opportunities Last Year (Here's Why)

The Hidden Cost of Saying "Yes" and why starting to say "No" Could Help Grow Your Business

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the constant stream of "opportunities" coming your way? The podcast invites, speaking requests, partnership proposals, and those dreaded "quick calls" that somehow always turn into hour-long meetings?

As a Reminder, Our Goal with this Newsletter is to Give You the Highest Level of Value Possible. That's my Promise to you & I intend to Over-Deliver!

Here's a Sneak Peek at What's Inside This Email:

  • I'll share why I turned down 100+ opportunities last year (and why it was one of my best business decisions)

  • The exact framework I use to evaluate opportunities

  • How to guard your most valuable resource as an entrepreneur - your time & focus

Alright, let's Dive In...

The Hidden Cost of Saying "Yes"

I used to be that entrepreneur who said "yes" to everything. Every podcast invite, every speaking opportunity, every "quick call" to explore potential partnerships...

I thought being everywhere and doing everything was the path to growth. But I was wrong.

What I discovered instead was a powerful lesson about Opportunity Cost that transformed my approach to business:

Every "Yes" comes with a hidden "No" to something else.

When you say "yes" to that podcast interview, you're automatically saying "no" to something else - maybe it's time with your team, working on that game-changing project, or the strategic thinking that could 10x your business.

This realization led me to have an important conversation with my Executive Assistant:

"I'm going to show up 110% for everything I commit to - that's who I am. But we need to be extremely selective about what makes it onto my calendar. My team & clients come first."

The Strategic Decision Framework

This led to developing a simple but powerful filter for evaluating opportunities. I now ask four key questions:

  1. Does this directly benefit my clients?

  2. Will this move the needle for AdOutreach?

  3. Does this align with our core mission?

  4. Am I genuinely excited about this?

If an opportunity doesn't hit at least 3 of these 4 criteria, it's an automatic "No."

The hardest part? Learning to say "No" to things that look good on paper but don't align with your highest priorities. But here's what happens when you do:

  • More bandwidth for innovation

  • Better results for your clients

  • Increased momentum in your business

  • Greater impact in the areas that matter most

The Strategic Decision Framework - Filtering Opportunities for Greater Impact

The Results Speak For Themselves

Since implementing this framework, we've seen exponential growth at AdOutreach. Not because we're doing more, but because we're doing the RIGHT things with complete focus and dedication.

This focus helped us achieve 6,052% growth in just three years, landing us spot #60 on Inc's Fastest Growing Companies in America.

The biggest lesson? Success isn't about doing more things - it's about doing the RIGHT things with complete focus & dedication.
